In February we launched Google Latitude, a service that lets you to see where your friends are and what they're up to, while allowing you to maintain very fine-grained control over how your location is seen by the people you care about.
Today, we're bringing Latitude to the iPhone and iPod touch as a web application accessible by going to google.com/latitude from the Safari browser. To easily access Latitude, try creating a home screen link using Safari's "+" icon.

Really excited that Google has finally added Latitude support for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
I understand that Google is all about services through the browser. That being said, what about a native iPhone app? Using the browser limits the functionality at this point.
Just thought I'd state the obvious! Thanks for all the awesome work!

I think Google wants to make these apps native as well, but Apple/AT&T seem to have a desire to block anything awesome from the App store. T-Mobile should offer to buy out contracts for iPhone users so they can enjoy a more open market found on the Android phones. (BTW Latitude and Google Voice are AWESOME on my G1)Good work guys don't let the fruit get you down!

My friend Iain and I tried using latitude on the iPhone last night, but found that it lagged a few minutes behind where we were in our cars.

How about making Latitude accessible through all PDAs? Nokia is a major player in the mobile industry...can we expect a possible tie-up with them in the future?
