Recently, the web became a little more social with the introduction of social gadgets for iGoogle. With several new social gadgets, iGoogle users can now collaborate via a social To-Do list, read and post movie reviews with the Flixster Movies gadget, and share media with the YouTube and NPR gadgets. Playing games with friends has also been popular, with over 120,000 people already adding Chess, Scrabble, or Who has the biggest brain? to their homepage.

If you're a developer using the OpenSocial API, this is great news. You can now reach tens of millions of iGoogle users in Australia and the US, with more countries to follow. To learn more about creating a social gadget for iGoogle, check out the iGoogle Developer Blog and Google Code.

@Karthik: To us, but maybe not others. ;)
Is anyone using the "Timeline" gadget? I am trying but it is too involved for quick use. It would be nice if I could connect another feed into a similar gadget, like my Twitter feed... Social Photos is very cool though!

a) When I go to a site, then I should be able to drag-and-drop Google-social followers (of that site), to my friends list (pending their approval). That way, I can make friends with them , and I should be able to chat with them also in real-time
b) When I go to a site, I should be able to identify the online Google-social followers (of that site) and the offline Google-social followers (of that site). That way,I can chat live with the online Google-social followers, and add others to my friends list (pending their approval).
c) Also Seems in igoogle on Google Chrome browser, when I added social games like scrabble etc, then it does not work. But adding such social games on igoogle works on browser like IE.
d) When I visit a website, Showing my friends and any people visiting a website, for chatting with : Lets say I go to a website like http://www.techcrunch.com/. Then I see a Meebo toolbar at bottom of screen, wherein I can chat with my contacts. But I would like to chat with people who are currently also visiting techcrunch site who might be logged onto Meebo, that way I can chat live with people who are directly at the website I am visiting on the Internet.

So is this Google Friend Connect the same thing as a blogspot "follower" ?
or are they 2 different "gadgets"?
and is there a wordpress plugin to get this to work on a self hosted wordpress.org blog?
thanks
